Company History

Ingenieurbüro Jörg Kuntzsch was founded in September 1990 as a consulting engineer and planning office for renewable energies. From the very beginning, the focus of the work was on the practical and scientific support of wind energy projects.

We have been working under the company name Ingenieurbüro Kuntzsch GmbH since 2001. We are a founding member of the wind expert advisory board of the German Wind Energy Association (BWE e.V.) and of the technical committee “Wind Potential (TC WP)” and “Operating Data & Site Yield (TC OS)” of the Association for the Promotion of Wind Energy (FGW e.V.).

Since January 2006, our competence has also been confirmed by our accreditation as a testing laboratory by DAkkS Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH. Our accreditation in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 covers the following services:

  • Determination of wind potential and energy yields of wind turbines,

  • Determination of the site quality,

  • Performance and evaluation of wind measurements to determine wind potential using anemometers, SODAR and LIDAR,

  • Determination of the reference yield of wind turbines,

  • Determination of site quality after commissioning,

  • Preparation of noise immission forecasts for wind turbines,

  • Preparation of shadow impact forecasts for wind turbines.

The first breakthrough came in 1992 with the Saxony wind measurement program commissioned by the Saxony Ministry of the Environment, in which the engineering office played a key role. Further studies followed, e.g. the Brandenburg wind potential study from 1992 to 1994.

In addition to the preparation of larger studies and potential analyses, we prepare expert reports for sites in Germany and, for some years now, increasingly abroad. In the meantime, we have supported wind energy projects in Albania, France, Indonesia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary and Vietnam, among others.

In addition, we have expanded our measurement network for the preparation or monitoring of wind energy sites and extended it to other European countries. You can find more information on our previous activities in our references.
