Company History

Ingenieurbüro Jörg Kuntzsch was founded in September 1990 as a consulting engineer and planning office for renewable energy. Right from the start, the main focus of our activities was the scientific preparation of wind energy projects.

Since 2001 our engineering office is called Ingenieurbüro Kuntzsch GmbH. We are a founding member of the Site Review Committee of the German Wind Energy Association (BWE e.V.) and of the Technical Committee on Wind Potential of the Association for the Promotion of Wind Energy (FGW e.V.).

Since January 2006 our competence is certified by an accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 by DAkkS Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH. Following services are accredited:

  • Determination of wind potential and energy yield of wind energy converters,

  • Determination of site quality,

  • Evaluation and operation of wind measurements,

  • Determination of reference production based on the German new energy law (EEG).

One of our first successes was a wind-measuring program in Saxony in 1992. The program was ordered by the Saxony Environmental Ministry and our engineering office played a major role. Other studies followed – e.g. the Brandenburg wind potential study carried out from 1992 to 1994.

Besides working out extensive studies and analyses of potentials, we also provide expert reports for wind energy locations all over Germany. Over several years we have extended our activities to foreign countries. Up to now we have supported wind energy projects in countries such as Albania, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey and Vietnam.

Additionally, we have expanded our measuring network in order to assist the preparation of wind energy locations in Germany and in other European countries. In our references you can find more details about our activities carried out so far.
